Brother Knight Mike Fontana was lead chairperson for the first ever RUN THE PLANK which raised $20,000 for homeless students
Run the Plank was started as a community-building event between the three churches that line Romeo Plank Road between 21 Mile and 24 Mile roads — Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Isidore’s Church and St. Peter’s Lutheran Church — and expanded into a fundraiser for two organizations.

St. Isidore Knights of Columbus and Brother Knight Keith Verellen cited in news article
"Two of the county’s longest-serving AAH groups are based right here in Macomb Township. The St. Isidore Catholic Church Knights of Columbus Council 7200 has been active for 21 years, since AAH began, and teams from Ray Wiegand’s Nursery have been cleaning up for almost 20 years (since May 1991). "
